Fire Protection and Control
Burning of waste is strictly prohibited at the facility. In order to promptly extinguish any accidental fires, each heavy equipment unit is equipped with a fire extinguisher and employees receive annual fire fighting training. In addition, soil stockpiles are maintained near the active areas for the purpose of smothering fires and an on-site water truck is available. The site is also equipped with a 120,000-gallon water storage tank to ensure water is available at all times. San Antonio Fire Department personnel perform annual inspections of the water tank and fire hose connections at the tank.
