Vector Control
Vectors are controlled through proper management of the disposal areas. Proper waste compaction and soil cover are accepted methods of controlling vectors on landfills. The Covel Gardens SOP contains a Bird Control Plan specifically designed to eliminate the presence of scavenger birds at the site. This plan includes the use of 'bangers' and 'screamers' and 'propane cannons'. All Covel Gardens employees are trained to inspect for the presence of vectors. Should the need arise, professional exterminators will be contacted to control any pests populations that may appear at the site.
